Scientific advising

For companies creating products that measure or improve stress and well-being, I provide science-backed expertise. I support companies in connecting their mission and products to the latest science as a consultant or advisor. My expertise is in stress physiology, behavioral science and mental health research.

I’ve been at the intersection of business and psychological science for many years. In 2017, I wrote the first peer-reviewed academic paper on the benefits of Headspace. I advise for both physical products, like wearables, and software products, like using self-report surveys to track the impact of well-being corporate wellness initiatives.

“Alexandra is an absolute delight to work with. Very personable and responsive, but most importantly she provides her perspectives in a manner which are of great value to the company. She has provided us with the scientific backbone that we required to develop our technology to approach the challenge of monitoring stress in a way that optimizes our technology.”

— David Lester, former FDA leader and currently Global Strategy and Medical Affairs at My Sound Technology (scientific advising client)

Speaking

I’ve spoken on stages throughout the United States and internationally to audiences of all sizes, ranging from intimate gatherings of 10 people to large-scale events with 1,000+ in attendance.

I have a unique ability to translate complex scientific research into understandable and helpful insights for people to feel empowered to manage their stress better.

My signature keynote is a 60-minute online interactive workshop on stress resilience which, to date, I’ve led for more than 30 corporate teams.

I especially enjoy fireside chat-style forums on coping with stress and optimizing performance.

"I watched the recording of your lecture on Friday and wanted to say THANK YOU, truly. It was a wonderful talk that really covered so many aspects of stress - the physiologic, the evidence showing its impact on health, the necessity to recharge, disconnect, and find connections."

— Ingrid Lim, MD on Dr. Crosswell’s guest lecture at Kaiser Permanente

Leadership Coaching

Much of my work with individuals is done through WYLD Leadership, a leadership development firm that develops retreats, workshops, and executive coaching programs to draw out each person’s unique strengths.

As a stress scientist and Gallup-certified strengths coach, I’m uniquely equipped to help executives manage work-related stress while optimizing for performance.

“Alexandra brings her whole self to her role as a coach and partner and takes a holistic approach to career growth. The work we did in sessions and the solo-work I did in between was thought-provoking and I came away with concrete next steps and frameworks to apply to my job. Alexandra is a joy to work with and I was amazed by how much ground we covered in our time together; I highly recommend her.”
